STATEMENT

One can't walk through the boroughs of New York City without seeing the remnants of the economically relevant places of the past two centuries. My curiosity is in past places that provided work and substance for generations of New Yorkers-like The Brooklyn Navy Yard and Hunts Point Palace in the Bronx. Although both of these large sites have lost their original intentions and have been sliced into smaller components, I still find this kind of place interesting, and feel that others will be interested also.

With the project theme "you are here," my intention is to unfold the history of these places through content-based signage. Much can be conveyed to the reader through short text blurbs and historical images. The purpose is to have the reader visualize past activity and to comprehend the change that has taken place over time.
